The Warriors Making Their Push

Today the Warriors acquired Jordan Crawford from the Celtics in a three team trade that send Toney Douglas to the Heat and Joel Anthony and two picks to the Celtics. The move seems to be a smart one for all teams involved.

The Warriors get Crawford, who recently discovered he had teammates and has been averaging nearly 6 assist per game. A full 2 assists above his career best. Crawford gives the Warriors a much needed ball handler and distributor they lack when Steph Curry is on the bench. Crawford can create his own shot and others shots. At the tender age of 25, he will fit into the Warriors fast paced offense. The question is whether Crawford has really improved from a huck & chuck player or this is a Brad Stevens' magic trick.

The timing of the trade is still early enough for the Warriors to see if he blends in. The Warriors consider themselves contenders and gives them plenty of time to figure it out. With Westbrook out for the Thunder, The Spurs aging, and Portland inexperienced, now is the time for the Warriors to strike.

The Heat are able to save nearly 8 million in salary and luxury tax for a guy that could be confused for a bench coach already. In return, the Heat hope Toney Douglas can be a feisty defender to alleviate the duties from LeBron and Dwayne's knees.

Picks, picks, picks, and picks. The Celtics continue to stockpile picks for the next 3 years. They seem to be copying Thunder General Manager, Sam Presti. Presti did his best Billy Beane impression by having a knack for drafting talent (Durant, Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka, Jackson, etc). The Celtics could afford this move with Rajon Rondo coming back and the new addition of Jerryd Bayless. I must confess it is more entertaining to see the Celtics suck and make great trades this year than watch them any of the past previous 4 seasons. It is much better to suck with a chance to be great in years to come than hope LeBron James gets injured.

Currently the only thing making LeBron look human.
