Grow Up Bill
In case you missed it on Sunday, here is the play the Patriots Coach Bill Belichick is complaining about. The play is for Demaryius Thomas to run a slant with a "pick" set by crossing wide receiver Wes Welker. These plays happen in every NFL game. Belichick is but hurt because it took out New England's best cornerback and changed the complexion of the game. The game was 3-0 at the time. I get Belichick's reaction but to say...
“It is a deliberate play by the receiver to take out Aqib,” Belichick said. “No attempt to get open. And I’ll let the league handle the discipline on that play. It’s not for me to decide, but it’s one of the worst plays I’ve seen. And that’s all I’m going to say about that.”
This reaction stems from more than a single play. It began this past offseason when Welker turned down a 2yr/10mil from the Patriots to sign with the Broncos for 2yr/12mil. Belichick thought he could duplicate Welker's production. He nearly did with Edelman, but he stilled missed Welker's first explosive step.
It is asinine to think the Broncos would send a receiver with two concussions in the past 3 months, to intentionally hurt another player. Grow up Bill, you lost to a better team.
