Leave Bode Alone

On Sunday, Bode Miller took home his U.S. record 6th olympic medal getting the Bronze in the Men's Super G.  Miller's teammate, Andrew Weibrecht took home the Silver medal. Miller became the most decorated U.S. alpine skier and the oldest alpine skier to medal. A great story for the papers, but unfortunately not the one told.
Miller was brought to tears post race by an interviewer asking whether this run was for his deceased brother. Miller was choked up and attempted to finish the interview. Christin Cooper, the interviewer did her job in asking more leading questions as Miller displayed emotion. After Miller walked away, the outcry on social media was she was excessive. Nonsense. Miller showed how dedicated and passionate he is about alpine skiing (something that has been continuously questioned in the past). I applaud Miller for being real and honest. I credit Ms. Cooper for doing her job.
To show you how unfair it is to judge Miller for his 3rd place finish, let us take a look at Weibrecht's career. Weibrecht has finished on the podium in his skiing career a grand total of two times. Once in 2010 at the Vancouver Olympics and yesterday in Sochi. He has never been ranked above #50 in the past six years. In the last 11 years (minus 2013 injured), Bode Miller has been ranked in the #20 and ranked in the top #4 seven consecutive years. He has finished on the podium 78 times!
Imagine if you were evaluated once every four years for your job. Would you be comfortable with how it reflects your performance? Of course not. Thank you, Bode for always being true to yourself. Your brash, unedited self will be missed.

Presidents and Heads of States are often written into history for the legacy they leave or how they helped/hurt their Country. YAWN. No one really cares. Toomas Hendrik Ilves took awhile to get it right. He was previously married to an American (American men do not want to marry American women... you think he would have gotten the memo), but married his able bodied longtime partner in 2003. College Basketball player shoves Fan

Oklahoma State star sophomore Marcus Smart got in a brief altercation with a fan last night in a loss at Texas Tech. Smart went barreling into the stands after attempting to block a shot and was charged with a foul. As he got up he immediately turned around and got in the face of some old geyser running his mouth. He then proceeded to shove him as his teammates pulled him away. 

There has been a bit of an overreaction to Smart shoving this fan. Sure, he should not have lost his cool, but I can imagine one of the words the fan said to him to set him off. I do not blame Smart. Fans have to be held to higher standard. The same fan was caught taunting a Texas A&M player before. I do not care how much money this fat slob donates to the school, he needs to act like an adult. The only thing I blame Smart for not doing is shoving a hot dog down his throat.

Soft Hearts in Denmark today

The Copenhagen zoo put down a fan favorite giraffe, Marius. Marius was a 2 year old and they feared  inbreeding if Marius was kept alive. The zoo refused to deport the giraffe. Guests were invited to view Marius get put down and promptly fed to lions.  You have to respect that move by the Danes. Little Axsel and Annelise have to understand how the animal kingdom works. Being a skinny bitch with beautiful eyes can only take you so far in life. Take Notes, Paris.
